Can data be displayed from the Internet?

Oblumi tapp can be used with the Apple iPhone 4 or more recent versions (requires iOS 7 or more recent version), or with Android 4.2 mobile telephones or more recent versions. Oblumi tapp has been tested with the mobile phones shown in the following list. If your mobile phone is not listed, it does not mean it is not supported by Oblumi tapp. It is simply because we did not have the opportunity to test it. Is Oblumi tapp compatible with iPhone 7?
YES. The new iPhone 7 removed the headphone jack but a really nice jack-lighting adapter is included in the original box. Thanks to this adapter, our Oblumi tapp device is fully compatible with it. The adapter is quite handy and flexible so we can now orientate the Oblumi tapp as we can see through the following video.
Be aware that the adapter can be only used with iOS 10. If you want to use it in a phone different from iPhone 7, please be sure to upgrade it to iOS 10.
The original apple adapter can be also bought separately with a suggested price of 9€

 

 

My mobile phone does not detect the Oblumi tapp device. Why?
This may be due to the following reasons:

  • Your mobile phone is not supported by Oblumi tapp.
  • The audio connector is dirty. Please, see the “Care” section.
  • You must replace the device batteries. Please, see the “Care” section.

I have an compatible iPhone which is not detecting the device. What is going on?
A)Check that our applications has permissions to access the microphone by following the next steps:
1- Go to Settings and then to Privacy.
2- Once in Privacy, go to Microphone.
3- Check that Oblumi tapp has access to the microphone.

B) Check that your iPhone volume is not limited.
1- Go to Settings and then to Music.
2- Slide down to enter in “Volume Limit”.
3- Ensure that EU Volume Limit or any other setting limiting the volume is disabled.

C) Check that your audio is not in MONO.
1- Go to Settings and then to General.

I have an Android compatible smartphone which is not detecting the device. What is going on?
Oblumi tapp uses sound to communicate with the app. To do this it needs a certain output volume power and stereo sound. Although the app tries to turn up the multimedia volume when needed, some times the operating system prevents it, for security reasons. If your Android phone doesn’t detect the device, try the following steps:

A) Set the multimedia volume at the maximum:

B) Turn the volume up using the external buttons at the moment the Oblumi App is detecting the device.

C) Disable all audio effects (equalizer, sound 3D, Dobly, etc.). Some of this configurations can limit the device’s stereo capacity.

Why is not my Android phone supported?
Oblumi tapp uses the standard audio connector in order to support all mobile phones. However, although the connector is physically standard, each manufacturer provides different functions for each mobile phone. Some exceptional conditions that can cause the mobile phone not being supported by Oblumi tapp are:

  • The audio in the headphones is not stereo or fully stereo. You can check if your smartphone is stereo following the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8ODm-F9-IM where you should hear a single sound in each earpiece.
  • Maximum volume is specially low.

CARE

How to clean the tapp properly?
It is very important to take the temperature measurements both with the ear canal clean and with the tapp sensor thoroughly clean. This will improve the quality of the temperature readings in general. To clean the tapp you can use the cleaning wipes supplied or, with a cloth dampened with alcohol or water, you can gently rub the sensor zone (tip) until it is thoroughly clean.

 

 

Battery replacement
When the app shows a low battery message, you must replace the batteries. Oblumi tapp uses two CR1616 batteries. Please, perform the following steps:

Do I need to install an app in my mobile to use Oblumi tapp?
Yes. Apps are available in Apple’s App Store for Apple devices and in Google Play for Android devices.

Is the app free?
Yes.

What are the minimum software requirements to run the app?
iOS 7 or later for Apple devices, Android 4.2 or later for Android devices.

Is there an app version for Windows Phone?
No, at this moment.

Does the app include any assistance?
Yes. The app includes the following as part of the assistance:

  • A Tutorial or Introduction
  • A specific tutorial including tips to measure correctly in the ear.
  • A specific tutorial including tips to measure correctly on the forehead.
  • Links to Oblumi’s support website.

How can I get Help from the app?
From the main menu, pressing the “Help” button.

What units of measurement does the app use for weight and temperature?
For temperature, Celsius or Fahrenheit grades can be used. For weight, Metric (kg., g.) or Imperial (lb., oz.) systems can be used. You can select the units of measurement from the main menu, pressing the “Settings” button.

REGISTER

Do I need to create an account in Oblumi Cloud to use Oblumi tapp?
No, it is not necessary. You can take a temperature without username with the “I want to take measurement without registering” button from the registration screen.

What are the benefits of registering?
Many. If you register you can:

  • Save all the historical data on the Cloud.
  • Display historical data and graphics.
  • Create patients and profiles.
  • Create alarms to remind you when to take a temperature or give medication again.
  • Access medication dosing calculations.
  • Share patients with another person.
  • Send and receive notifications.
  • And much more…

If I register, is there any fee to be paid for Oblumi Cloud service?
No, it is totally free of charge.

What do I need to register?
You need an Internet connection during the registration process and you must enter an email address and a name. We need the email address to prevent anyone registering on your account. The name is simply to know how should we address you.

When entering the registration information, should I do anything else?
Yes. You must activate the account. We will send you an email to the email address provided with instructions to complete the process.

Once registered I do not receive any email, why?
If you do not receive the email, it is likely that your email client or provider has categorized our email as spam. Please, check the spam inbox. If you still cannot complete the process, contact us.

How can I deregister my username?
There is an option to deregister any user in the Data Access options in Oblumi website.

LOGIN

I have registered, but I cannot login, why?
Probably you have not completed the registration process and the account is not active yet. See the Registration section. If you still cannot login, contact us.

I have forgotten my password, what can I do?
You can recover your password from the app or from the website, with the “Forgot your password?” button.

How can I logout?
From the main menu, pressing the “Logout” button.

MEASUREMENT PROCESS

Where should I take temperature, on the forehead or in the ear?
Since the ear provides a path into the body, temperature taken in the ear canal is fairly reliable. However, if you do not want to disturb your child, you can take a temperature on the forehead. These readings will be susceptible to superficial temperature fluctuations, since the forehead skin is exposed to external elements, such as the sun, breeze or a fan or air conditioning. Those circumstances should, therefore, be avoided in order to take a correct temperature on the forehead.

 

 

 

 

What is the adaptable lid for?
It fulfills a double function: on the one hand, smoothing skin contact and, on the other hand, keeping a proper distance between skin and sensor to take a correct temperature reading. The lid is only used when taking a temperature on the forehead and it must be removed when taking a temperature in the ear.

How should I take a measurement?
Connect Oblumi tapp device and follow the instructions displayed on screen.

When I turn on the device, a message is displayed saying I have to replace the batteries. How should I proceed?

*Sometimes, the device generates a measurement error or displays temperature readings unusually high, why?
Usually, this is caused by a dirty tip of the device or because the temperature reading process was not properly performed. See the “Hardware” section, where you can find a video tutorial.

How can I measure temperature of liquids?
From the main menu, pressing the “Measure liquids” button.

Can I insert Oblumi tapp device in liquids?
No, never. You must simply point the sensor of the tapp device towards the liquid and keep it at approximately 1 cm.

Do I need an Internet connection to take a measurement?
No. Oblumi tapp saves all data in the mobile phone and updates data in the Cloud when there is an Internet connection available.

Can I enter a measurement manually without using the device?
Yes. From the History and Graphics screen, press the “+” button.

PATIENT MANAGEMENT

How many patients can I manage?
As many as you like.

How can I access the patient list?
From the main screen, press the button on the top right.

How can I create a new patient?
From the patient list, press the “+” button.
When creating a patient, I must enter weight and date of birth, why?
Those are data required to calculate medication dosage.

How can I share or delete a patient?
From the patient list, drag an item with a finger from right to left to display a menu with options. From this menu you can share and delete a patient.

HISTORY AND GRAPHICS

What items are shown in the list?
The list represents the history of temperature readings and medication, ordered from most recent (top) to less recent (bottom).

How can I share or delete a measurement o a medication taken?
From the list, drag an item with a finger from right to left to display a menu with options. From this menu you can share and delete an item.

What is represented in the graphical view?
The graphics represent the development of temperature and medication within a time frame of 12, 24 or 48 hours.

How can I shift in time?
You simply select the temperature or medication to display from the list and the graphics will be automatically updated.

Some data appear in the list but do not appear in the graphics, why?
To make the graphics visually clear and readable, only the higher temperature readings at each interval are represented. The only exception to this data grouping rule is applied with the piece of data selected, that will always be displayed in the graphic.

How is medication represented in the graphics?
It is always displayed in the bottom part of the graphics. This way, you can see the development of temperature in relation to medication.

What happens when I share a temperature o medication taken?
If you share the item via Oblumi tapp, every person to whom you shared the patient will receive a notification with a message. If you share the item via another app, the message will be sent via the other app, e. g., a messaging app.

PATIENT SHARING

What does patient sharing mean?
It means the patient data (records, temperature and medication) are shared among several users. When someone takes a new temperature reading, changes the patient records or deletes a medication, the rest of users will see those changes transparently. You need an Internet connection for this feature to work properly.

What do I need to share a patient with someone?
The other person must be registered in Oblumi Cloud and you should know the email used by that person to register.

How will I know someone has shared a patient with me?
You will receive a notification and, also, when you open de app you will be asked to accept the patient.

How can I see with whom I have shared a patient?
You can see that from the option to display data from the web.

ALARMS AND NOTIFICATIONS

What are alarms for?
The app includes them to remind you to take a temperature o give medication again to a patient.

I do not receive any notification, why?
To receive notifications you must be logged in and connected to the Internet.

I am an Android user and I do not receive any notification, why?
Android devices only receive notifications when the app is running. Ensure that the app is running, you are logged in and you are connected to the Internet.

Can data be displayed from the Internet?
Yes. On Oblumi website, there is an option to display data from the web. You must use your username and password to do that. You can display data in a similar way to the app.
